In light of the current economic crisis, President Obama and Congress have been working hard to quickly pass an economic recovery package. Earlier this week the US House of Representatives passed their version of the bill in a vote of 244-188. Now it is the Senate’s turn to vote on their version of the bill.

The bill follows the outline put forth by President Obama to create jobs, lower healthcare costs, modernize our infrastructure, and help those most hurt by the economic downturn through food and energy assistance. This package is expected to create or save 3 to 4 million jobs.

Americans across this country are suffering due to the prolonged economic crisis we find ourselves in.  ACORN members and their communities face record foreclosures, rising unemployment, and high energy and food prices. It is of utmost importance that the Senate quickly pass this progressive bill.

Take Action: Call and email your Senators and urge them to support the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009”, which provides jobs for millions of Americans and provides much needed aid to low- and moderate-income communities. If your Senator says he/she supports the jobs and economic recovery bill, thank him/her for their support.
